Since 1978, Topaz has delivered quality services to over 500 of the Fortune 1000 companies all over the globe meeting the changing needs of the travel industry. Many of these changes have been significant in redefining the landscape of most travel programs. Established as an independent third party, we have remained objective and impartial in our auditing processes for over 30 years.
In the 1990's, commission caps created a new set of challenges for the industry. Travel agencies began charging service fees to clients due to the limited commissions received from the airlines. Corporate travel programs, which had been a profit center in the past, became a cost center. Topaz worked with travel managers by offering auditing and consulting services to help find a balance between cost savings and service levels for managing their corporate travel programs.
To further complicate the lives of travel managers, e-tickets and internet booking tools designed to help consumers find the lowest airfare by bypassing the traditional travel agencies became mainstream. Topaz began conducting studies to determine the feasibility of booking on a public website in the late 1990's and we continue to support travel managers by helping to validate their travel program.
Many tragedies have occurred over the last 30 years, but none have hit home quite like 11 Sep 2001. The complete halt of travel impacted everyone associated with it. It uncovered the importance of tracking passengers through travel management companies and dealing with passenger education on new security measures at airports. Topaz is proud to have provided assistance to corporations during these difficult times by helping evaluate and substantiate their travel programs.
Throughout the history of Topaz, we have offered quality services to the travel industry. Our core audit product remains a valuable tool and we continue to add additional services which meet the changing needs of our clients.
